At Structural Adhesives, we’ve always focused on developing adhesives that solve real problems for industry. As an SME, our strength lies in being agile, practical, and close to our customers, while working in partnership with leading universities to make sure our solutions are technically robust and future-ready.
Through our current Knowledge Transfer Partnership with the University of Leicester, we set out to address a long-standing challenge: how to create an epoxy that performs like traditional formulations, but can also be cleanly removed at the end of life.
The result is our new thermally debondable epoxy.
- Provides the strength and durability of a conventional epoxy.
- Can be cleanly debonded with heat at end of life, or during rework and repair.
- Supports disassembly and material recovery.
- Reduces waste and contributes to circular economy goals.
This development shows what’s possible when academic expertise and SME agility come together, and it marks an important step forward in how adhesives can support more sustainable product life-cycles. Now we need to progress this innovation to the next stage which means involving industry and business alike.
